DPLAfest 2019 will take place at Chicago Public Library’s Harold Washington Library Center (HWLC), located at 400 S State St., Chicago, IL 60605. There are entrances to the building on State St, Congress Parkway, Plymouth Court and Van Buren St. The Plymouth Court entrance should be used when entering the building before 9:00 am.

Bus and Trains to the Harold Washington Library Washington Center
HWLC is easily accessed by train or bus. To plan your trip to the Library using the public transit use the CTA Trip Planner.


  • Orange, Brown, Pink, and Purple lines: Use the Harold Washington Library-State/Van Buren station which is accessed on Van Buren St.
  • Blue Line: Use the Jackson station. When you exit the station head south on Dearborn St, turn left on Van Buren and HWLC will be on the right hand side of the street.
  • Red Line: Use the Jackson station. When you exit the station head south on State St. and HWLC will be on the left hand side of the street.

Getting to Chicago


Chicago has two airports, Midway International Airport (MDW) and O’Hare International Airport (ORD).

The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) train service between both O’Hare (Blue Line to Jackson station, normally 40-45 minutes travel time) and Midway airports (Orange line to Harold Washington-State/Van Buren station, normally 20-25 minutes travel time) and downtown. View information on costs.

Cabs are available at both airports. Rides from O’Hare to City could run $50 or higher and take up to an hour (or longer, depending on traffic). Rides from Midway to the City can run $35 or higher and take up to 45 minutes (or longer, depending on traffic). Ride share services are also available at both airports.


Amtrak is accessible via Union Station, 225 S. Canal St.


A Greyhound station is located at 630 W Harrison St.


Megabus has a drop off/pick up location at W Polk St. between S Clinton St and S Canal St.
